Abstract: In this paper, deviation indicators are used to measure the level of spatial differences in China's energy consumption, and sum of squared deviations is decomposed into regional differences and regional differences within, which makes it possible to measure the composition of the overall regional differences. The sum of absolute deviation is decomposed into share of each factor, which makes it possible to identify the main factors affecting the difference. The results show that spatial differences in China's energy consumption continues to expand; total differences in energy consumption are mainly caused by the differences within the region, and major differences within the region come from the eastern region; capital stock per capita is a key factor affecting the level of spatial differences in China's energy consumption. At last, this paper presents the corresponding policy recommendations.
