Abstract: Based on the theoretical frame of knowledge production, this paper introduces the empirical model, under the viewpoint of absorptive capability, and studies the effect of the resources devoted to R&D, regional knowledge stock and R&D spatial spillover to regional knowledge production. The studies show that regional knowledge stock has positive effect on the production of new knowledge, R&D personnel has the effect of stepping on the toe, but the resources devoted to R&D has not the effect on regional knowledge production. And more, the author founds that R&D personnel of eastern and central region has the ability to absorb R&D spatial spillover, but western region don’t attain the threshold of absorptive capability to absorb R&D spatial spillover.
