Abstract: This paper reviews the development and the current situation of the research and practice of global flow of funds statistics. Since 2008, some international organizations and experts have strengthened their research for measuring global flow of funds. The basic idea is to establish a statistical framework with SNA system, focusing on the integration of the existing international financial statistics, and compile the matrix of global flow of funds by the balance sheet approach. This paper also presents different views from methods in Li et al. Li et al uses the same way to Balance of Payment table by the conversion that as the form from flow of funds account change to flow of funds matrix form, and thus the preparation of global flow of funds form the basic calculation framework is untenable. In addition, questions regarding the preparation methods in Li et al are discussed.
