摘要: 教学、科研、服务社会是高校三大基本功能,随着市场化、科研竞赛的深化,我国高等教育教学面临巨大挑战。利用大学新生随机分班的准实验设计,本文得以解决教育增值评估中的学生自选择问题。研究发现,教师影响存在明显挥发性,但是其短期和长期影响是一致的,“为考试而教”与“为知识而教”的长短期影响不一致性在语言类课程中并不明显。分类别来看,编制内讲师的教学效果最差,外聘教师教学效果最好,在读研究生虽然有着不错的短期效果,但是长期效果差。最后,从课程教师聘用和教学评估的视角对提高大学教学质量给出思考。

Abstract: Using random assignment of students to different teaching classes during their first semester, we could be able to overcome self-selection and analyze teachers’ value-added effect. Our results suggest that the teacher value-added effect does exist and will partly persist into the future. The impact of teachers on students’ performance is consistent in short, medium and long-term. Moreover, teachers are divided into four types: associate professor, instructor, graduate student teacher, and part-time teacher. On average,Part-time teachers have the highest value-added effect while instructors do worst. Meanwhile,graduate student teachers exert good short-rum effect but not so well in the long-run. At last, some policy applications are considered to improve the teaching quality in perspective of teacher employment and teaching evaluation.
