Abstract: In this paper, we proposed a new model to estimate the inter-regional trade coefficient. Then we studied and improved the methodology and procedures on how to build the China’s multi-regional input-output (IO) model, and compiled the 2002 and 2007 models. The structure and characteristics of the inter-regional IO model makd it difficult to compile simply based on statistical and survey data, thus the scientific estimation methodology of the data was also important. In the model compilation work, we adopted the survey and non-survey methods and employed the inter-provincial trade data from the national IO survey conducted by National Bureau of Statistics and the various transportation data. The compilation also relied on each province’s IO table and used the national table as the control totals.
