Abstract: Sixty years ago, the foundation of National Bureau of Statistics became the benchmark of the official establishment and operation of the new Chinese Government Statistical Institute. Looking back the sixty years of process, vicissitudes of statistical works and the fate of the country were connected tightly. As the important part of statistical works, statistical research works keep moving under the winding and challenging. This paper reviews the government statistical research work through five facts: institute personnel, research activities, research management, construction of the institute and academic magazine. Statistical research work will continue to work on the research and practice. Coordinating with the core work of National Bureau of Statistics, playing a bridge and tie role of National Statistical Society, using the academic platform of the magazines, the institute keeps strengthening the organization and management of national statistical research work, playing important role in our national statistical work.
