Abstract: The paper reviews briefly the hundred year's history of Statistics in China and describes the current status of statistical discipline and statistics education. Specially, this paper envisions the opportunities after Statistics becomes the first-tier discipline in China, and discusses the future challenges we face towards building a strong discipline and how can we address them.
