内、外部习惯形成及居民消费结构——基于中国农村居民的实证研究

Internal and External Habit Formation with Household Consumption Structure: An Empirical Study Based on Chinese Rural Household

摘要: 本文将内部习惯形成、外部习惯形成与消费结构相结合,在构建理论模型的基础上,运用广义差分矩估计对中国26个省农村居民1994-2007年住户调查数据进行了实证分析。研究结果表明:(1)中国农村居民的各项消费支出都表现出显著的内部习惯形成。内部习惯形成类似于谨慎,习惯形成参数越大,居民储蓄目标将越高,消费将变得更加节俭。这也是目前中国农村消费市场迟迟没有启动的一个重要因素。(2)城镇居民的消费示范效应集中体现在交通通讯、教育文化娱乐服务及医疗保健支出方面。这三类消费支出都带有很强的“生产性消费”特征,一定程度上反映出农村居民消费更着眼于长期,而不是简单攀比。

Abstract: This paper incorporates inter and external habit formation into consumption structure through building a theoretical model and uses the Difference-GMM method to empirically study the data of rural households in China’s 26 provinces from 1994 to 2007. Estimated result shows that: 1. Rural households’ consumer spending in China shows significant inter habit formation. Inter habit formation is similar to prudence and the larger the habit formation parameter, the higher the saving target, meaning consumer spending gets more frugal. This is also the important factor that the current rural consumer market has not yet to start 2.The consumer demonstration effect of urban households is embodied in transport and communications, education, cultural, recreation and services and health care and medical services. The three categories of expenditures are to be with very strong feature of “productive consumption”, to a certain extent, reflects the consumption of rural households is more focused on long term, rather than simple comparison.
