Abstract: Instead of becoming a strong currency and a challenge to US$ immediately as people have anticipated or supposed, the Euro, which was introduced on 1st Jan this year, has lost 12 percent of its exchange rate against US$. And many people take a pessimistic view of its future. However, through analysis, the author points out, from a long-term view, the Euro will be stable, and will become the currency of settlement of international trade and monetary markets gradually. According to this judgment, purchasing Euro at opportune moment is essential for us to adjust our country’s foreign exchange reserve structure and improve it progressively.
