Abstract: An enormous amount of micro-data (household and enterprises) was obtained by government statistics department through surveys. In the information age, how to satisfy the requirement of confidentiality and develop the abundant precious data resources is a problem worthy of in-depth study. This paper summarizes the specific practices of developed countries including the USA, EU and Japan on how to develop and apply government micro survey data. To be specific, this paper introduces their practices on how to set up laws and regulations, how to determine the scope of data application, the models and steps of data application, etc. On this basis, this paper puts forward some policy recommendations for the development and application of China’s micro-survey data.
