Abstract:

This paper proposes a new method of measuring income mobility based on the difference of income proportion in two periods, and two new income mobility indices are derived, even more, we propose the corresponding concept and its building method of income mobility Lorenz curve which can reveal the extent of income mobility intuitively, and we also tells the approaches of decomposition and weighting of the related indices. Several indices are applied to measure China income mobility from the perspective of region, results show that the income mobility is low under all measurements, the income pattern between provinces is relatively rigid without any obvious trend. The results also testify the applicability and robustness of the proposed new income mobility indices.
