Abstract: The household statistical system was relatively perfect before the modern China. However, during the most periods , the statistical data of household statistics were not accurate. Some people didn’t report all family members to local government in order to evade taxes and corvee. At the same times, officials deliberately omitted some household and population number in the report to supervisor. Also some ethnic groups and class were not included in the census data. Thus the household and population number that government mastered was less than the actual number. Of course, this situation was different in different periods and different dynasties.
