Abstract: Using the panel data of 28 provinces in China during the period from 1978 to 2006, this paper studies the effects of industrialization on regional economic growth in China. The empirical results show that there exists the positive relation between economic growth and industrial structure for the eastern, central and western provinces, but that of northeast provinces is significantly negative. We also find that the relationship between employment structure and regional economic growth in central provinces is significantly positive, and that is contrary for northeast provinces, but that of eastern and western provinces is not significant. In the end, we prove that the urbanization positively correlate with economic growth for the overall regions.
