Abstract: Although low efficiency of financial support for agriculture is an indisputable fact since China’s reform, it is necessary to reveal the main reason to improve financial support for agriculture. Based on the related statistical data from 1987 to 2007, this paper empirically studied China’s financial efficiency of supporting agriculture from the perspective of financial leverage efficiency. The results show that the efficiency of financially supporting agriculture is very low because governments and financial institutions respectively support agriculture. This paper suggests government should integrate governmental support for agriculture and financial institutional to improve their efficiency and enlarge agricultural support funds, thus significantly promote their capabilities of supporting agriculture.
