Abstract: China's economy has entered a stage of high-quality development, with the new economy and new impetus being a significant part and a strong driving force. This article builds a new economy and new impetus index (NENII) from the dimensions of digital ability, economic vitality, knowledge strength, innovation power, and potential assistance, and uses the PP?IPM model to set weights and calculates the NENII in 31 provinces of China from 2014 to 2019. The modified gravity model is used to measure the provincial spatial correlation strength, and social network analysis is further used to show the overall form, internal structure and evolution trend of the association network. Results show that the development of the new economy and new impetus of 31 provinces in China exhibits a “high-east, low-west” pattern and the convergence-to-divergence dynamic trend; the whole country has formed a distribution pattern dominated by “low-low” and “high-high” aggregation forms. The inter-regional connections are close in the east and sparse in the west; radiation and absorption capacity has gradually increased. Provinces such as Beijing and Sichuan have a high probability of occupying structural holes and have development advantages. The conclusion has enlightenment for the sustainable, healthy and coordinated development of China?s new economy and new impetus.
