Abstract: Based on the research on global production by CES, UNECE and other international organizations, this paper uses the Value-Added Method and Production Value Chain Method to measure the transnational production scale of China from 2000 to 2017. The results show that: Firstly, the transnational production scale of China has developed rapidly. In 2017, the transnational production scale measured by the production value chain method reached 1254 billion dollars, which was eight times that of 2000; Since 2012, it has surpassed the United States to become the country with the largest transnational production scale in the world. Secondly, from the perspective of the industrial structure and production activity distribution, transnational production is mainly industry-based, and science and technology production is relatively weak. However, the proportion of transnational production related to science and technology shows a significant growth trend, and increases from 0.58% in 2000 to 1.17% in 2014. Thirdly, from an international perspective, China is gradually becoming the center of the production value chain in the Asia Pacific region and is in a key position in the global production value chain. However, in the process of bilateral transnational production between China and the United States, China’s value-added gains from the United States are still less than those of US from China.
