Abstract: First, this paper theoretically reviews the theoretical framework of entrepreneurial entrepreneurship and the impact of entrepreneurship on the quality of economic growth. Then, based on the province-level panel data from 2006 to 2019 in China, we empirically investigate the impact of entrepreneurial entrepreneurship on the quality of economic growth and its regional heterogeneity effect. The mediation effect and the moderation effect with mediation are used as empirical tests for the mechanism. The findings indicate that there exists a U-shaped relationship between entrepreneurship and the quality of economic growth in China overall. In the long term, with the improvement in entrepreneurship, it will grow from Kirzner arbitrage to Schumpeterian innovation, and its inhibitory effect on the quality of economic growth will be replaced by a boosting effect. In the eastern region, there is a positive linear relationship of entrepreneurship and the quality of economic growth, while there still exists U-shaped relationship in central and western regions. The mechanism test shows that entrepreneurial substantial innovation has a significant intermediary effect in the process of entrepreneurship affecting the quality of economic growth, but entrepreneurial strategic innovation does not have any significant intermediary effect; financial development has a positive mediating regulatory effect. The findings of this paper provide an empirical basis for policy recommendations to promote high-quality development in China’s economy by stimulating entrepreneurship.
