Abstract: This paper empirically studies the impact and the spatial spillover effect of the producer services agglomeration on the economic growth efficiency of the Yangtze River Delta city cluster.The results show that producer services agglomeration can not only significantly improve the economic growth efficiency of the local area,but also has a positive spatial spillover effect on neighboring cities,but this effect is heterogeneous among the sub-sectors of the producer services.It is further found that the MAR externality and Jacobs externality of producer services agglomeration are conducive to the economic growth efficiency of the Yangtze River Delta city cluster.However,Porter externality has a negative impact on the economic growth efficiency.In terms of spatial spillover effects,Jacobs externality has a negative spillover effect on cities with similar economic development levels.Porter externality has a positive spillover effect on cities with similar human capital levels.The co-agglomeration of producer services and manufacturing industry significantly promotes the economic growth efficiency of the local area and cities with similar human capital levels.However,the economic growth efficiency of neighboring cities and cities with similar economic development levels is inhibited by the “siphoneffect”.These studies provide a valuable theoretical basis for fast improving the economic growth efficiency of the Yangtze River Delta city cluster more specifically.
