Abstract: With the macroeconomic regulation framework shifting from the demand side to the supply side, the basic ideas of macroeconomic statistics need to be adjusted accordingly. This paper aims to provide a framework for understanding the national accounts in the light of macroeconomic supply side. The main contents include: 1)in view of the expenditurebased GDP, explaining the necessity for the macroeconomic regulation to shift from the demand side to the supply side; 2) in view of the productionbased GDP, explaining how to record macroeconomic conditions from the supply side; 3) in view of the incomebased GDP, explaining how the supply creates the demand and main influencing factors; 4) based on China’s realities, analyzing the possibility and operability in applying current national accounts to supplyside macroeconomic regulation.
